This inspiring organization is more than just football games and cheer routines—it’s a place where kids learn valuable life lessons, develop confidence, and build lifelong friendships. With a dedicated team of coaches, parents, and volunteers, the Greyhound Youth Football and Cheer program is helping young athletes and cheerleaders discover their potential while fostering a true sense of community.
In the video above, you’ll hear heartfelt stories from those deeply involved in the program. Coach Zach Petro, president of the organization and fifth-grade coach, shares how his proudest moments come from watching kids, many of whom are new to football, grow in skill and confidence over the season. “Last year, we had 15 kids who had never played before, and we ended up winning the championship,” Zach says. “Even better than that was seeing the kids progress and learn the game.”
For the cheerleaders, it’s all about energy, excitement, and teamwork. Tina Chapman, a fifth-grade cheer coach, highlights how the cheerleaders not only motivate the team and fans but also learn what it means to work together and support each other. “They bring energy and smiles to everyone’s faces,” she says.
Parents like Tina and Dustin Chapman are fully invested in the program, whether it’s coaching, cheering from the stands, or watching their kids thrive on the field. The Chapmans describe how the program has become a family affair for them, with every member—from their youngest, who proudly takes on the role of team mascot, to their eldest, who announces games—contributing in their own way.
What makes Greyhound Youth Football and Cheer stand out is the dedication to teaching lessons that go beyond sports. Whether it’s learning teamwork, overcoming challenges, or building confidence, these young athletes and cheerleaders are gaining skills they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives.
